The early learning and childcare (ELC) workforce has played a key role in maintaining essential services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, supporting positive outcomes for children of key workers and vulnerable children. As restrictions eased and ELC settings have been able to be provide care for all eligible children, staff have been welcoming families back in line with the Covid guidance. While it has been very challenging at times, children have continued to receive high quality care and learning experiences.

As we begin the new term, it’s a good time to remind all early learning and childcare services to be aware of how and why children could potentially leave a setting without staff or a parent/carer.
That’s why we want to introduce Simoa, the elephant, to all ELC settings. Let’s raise awareness and act responsibly to safeguard, protect and support children’s wellbeing.
