Last week I attended the Activ8: Keep on moving conference – the culmination of the Care Inspectorate’s 18-month Care about Physical Activity improvement programme. The CAPA programme is a great example of how making small changes can improve the quality of care experienced by many older people. The CAPA programme uses tried and tested methods to support more movement, based around what people enjoy doing.

Young inspection volunteers selected for prestigious First Minister mentee roles
We are celebrating the exciting news that two of the Care Inspectorate’s young inspection volunteers have been selected for prestigious roles through the First Minister’s mentorship initiative.
Toni Twigg has been selected as the overall winner by the First Minister and will be mentored by Nicola Sturgeon for one year. Ashley Mayer, who was also on the final shortlist of candidates, will now be matched with a mentor through the Scottish Chambers of Commerce network.

CAPA physical activity programme expanded
We are delighted that the Scottish Government has today announced £730,000 of further funding to allow the Care About Physical Activity programme (CAPA) to be expanded across Scotland, building on its previous funding of almost £1 million.
