Joint inspection of services for children and young people in need of care and protection in Fife

Inspectors have identified key strengths in the way children and young people in need of care and protection in Fife are supported and cared for.

The Care Inspectorate is leading joint inspections which focus on how well services are working together to improve the lives of children and young people who have experienced or are at risk of abuse and neglect, and those who are, or have been, looked after by the local authority. Inspectors look at how staff across a range of services collaborate, including social work, health and education staff, police officers, and children’s reporters.

Fostering and Adoption 2017-18 Statistical Bulletin

Fostering and adoption services in Scotland are continuing to perform well, according to the Care Inspectorate.

A new report published today showed that the quality of care experienced by children accessing fostering and adoption was high, with 97% graded ‘good’ or better at inspection.

Meeting qualification conditions by 2023

More than 56,000 social service workers across Scotland have to gain qualifications over the next four years to meet conditions on their registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Both the SSSC and the Care Inspectorate are keen that employers plan support for their workforce to make sure they gain their qualifications on time so they are able to continue their SSSC registration and working in the sector.

The shortlist for the 2019 Scottish Social Services Awards has been announced, revealing the 29 finalists from a record 157 entries received nationwide.

It includes a diverse mix of social services from third sector, independent and health organisations and local authorities who have made a positive difference to people’s lives.
