Influenza and Pneumococcal vaccination guidance

We have published guidance which gives information about seasonal influenza and pneumococcal vaccination for winter 2011 to 2012.

It explains how vaccines should be supplied and administered to children and adults in residential care services, and will help make sure that:

  • service users (or their representative) have consented to have the vaccine
  • vaccinations are supplied and administered legally
  • vaccinations are stored correctly
  • appropriate records are kept

There is a flow-chart which summarises what to do if an adult does not have the capacity to consent to vaccination. Please refer to the consent section of the guidance for more information.
