A care home in Glasgow has been told it must make swift improvements in the care provided to residents.
The Care Inspectorate has served a formal Improvement Notice on Drumpellier Lodge care home, a service for older people in Bargeddie, Glasgow.
The notice says the service must demonstrate that it is making “proper provision for the health, welfare and safety of service users.”
In particular, they must prepare a written personal plan for each resident which sets out how their health, welfare and safety needs are to be met.
They must also devise and implement a system to review personal plans at least every six months.
And they must demonstrate that there is the provision of suitable and sufficient meaningful activities for service users to engage in based on their personal choices and abilities.
The notice says activities should “promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of service users,” and says there must be access to outdoor space and events.
The care home must also review staffing levels to take into account service users’ dependency levels; adhere to the staffing schedule for the service and increase numbers where required to meet the care needs of service users; and they must ensure there is a record of time allocated to staff for the provision of support to service users to enable their engagement in activities.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “We have clearly set out the areas which require swift improvement at Drumpellier Lodge so that the care provided to residents reaches a standard that they have a right to expect.
"We will inspect this service again soon to check on progress and to ensure that improvements have been made. If we are not satisfied that sufficient progress is being made quickly, we will not hesitate to take further action.
“Everyone in Scotland has the right to safe, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights.
“Anyone with a concern about a care service should contact us on 0345 600 9527.”
